Week of March 27

Religion
The students will begin learning about and identifying parts of the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Our focus will be on the sacrifice of Jesus made in the Eucharist.  The students will hear and respond to the story of The Washing of Feet.

Everyday Math
Unit 9 with a continue with a focus on different types of measurement. The students will measure items using cm and inches to the nearest whole and fraction. There will be a lesson on perimeter and area, as well as measuring longer distances.

Daily 5
Daily 5 routines and Guided Reading groups Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Mini-Lessons: Text Features

Being a Writer
The students will focus on story elements and how to write a story with an effective beginning, middle and end. Students will move at their own pace this week through the drafting, editing and publishing process.

Science
Students will continue their study of matter. Students will focus on different features of solids, liquids and gases. New vocabulary words this week include mass, mixture, reversible and irreversible changes. There will be a unit assessment this week!

Week of March 20

Religion
This week the students will continue their First Communion preparation. At this time, the students should be able to recognize the Introductory Rite, Penitential Rite and elements of the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. We have been reading parables and creating a timeline to support student learning.

First Communion Retreat is this coming Sunday, March 26th in the afternoon.

Everyday Math
Unit 8 Chapter Review and Test this week.
Students will begin Unit 9 with a focus on different types of measurement.

Daily 5 routines and Guided Reading groups Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
