Week of April 10

Religion

This week we will finish Chapter 7 in our Eucharist books, as well as focus on Holy Week. The students will fully understand what it means to receive the Eucharist and how to use the Eucharist to be good servants of the Lord. The students will complete a Stations of the Cross activity on Holy Thursday to prepare for the Living Stations on Friday afternoon. Please feel free to join us in the church on Good Friday at 2:30.

Everyday Math
Unit 10 begins. Please look for a new family letter. This week the students will practice counting money and learn decimal notation for both pennies and dimes. The students will also count money amounts using a calculator, as well as practice estimating costs.

Daily 5
Daily 5 routines and Guided Reading groups Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Mini-Lessons: Biographies

Being a Writer
The students will choose their biography person on Tuesday! Please know we work very hard to accommodate a student's interest with his/her reading level. Both of these items are very important to us as a team. There will be a reading assignment this week/weekend! However, don't fret! The majority of the Biography Unit is completed at school. Please look for a letter to come home later this week explaining everything.

Science
Students will begin studying weather. The students will recognize the difference between weather and temperature. We will introduce various tools used to measure weather. The students will identify three types of clouds and review the water cycle.
